On December 6, we received an inquiry from an old customer in Vietnam. This inquiry was the same product that the customer had purchased before, and the drawings were customized for ASTM A105 forged flanges.
We have cooperated with this customer many times before, and the customer was very satisfied with our products and services. Half a month later, the customer placed an order with us and said that he believed in our quality.
ASTM A105 Forged Flanges are carbon steel flanges manufactured according to the ASTM A105 specification, which outlines the material requirements for forged carbon steel flanges used in pressure systems. These flanges are often used in systems that require high strength, durability, and resistance to mechanical stress.
ASTM A105 defines the material requirements for forged carbon steel flanges used in pressure systems at ambient and elevated temperatures. This means it dictates the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the steel used to make these flanges.

A105 has good forging properties and is suitable for processing using forging technology. During the forging process, the material can smoothly undergo plastic deformation under pressure to obtain the desired shape and size.
It also has good machinability, including machining operations such as cutting and drilling. During the manufacturing process, A105 material can be easily subjected to various machining operations to meet different design requirements.

ASTM A105 flanges can come in several standard types, each suited to different kinds of pipe connections:
Most common in high-pressure systems, these flanges have a long tapered neck that allows for a smooth transition between the flange and the pipe. This design improves the strength of the connection.
Slip-On Flanges
These flanges slide over the pipe and are welded on both the inside and outside. They are easier to install but are typically used in lower-pressure systems.
Used to seal the end of a pipe, preventing flow, or for maintenance purposes.
Socket Weld Flanges
Designed for small diameter, high-pressure applications. The pipe fits into a socket, and the flange is welded around the pipe.
Threaded Flanges
These flanges have internal threads and are screwed onto pipes with external threads, making them easy to install without welding.
Lap Joint Flange
The main structural feature of the lap joint flange is the loose connection. It consists of a flange body, a flange nipple and connecting bolts.
Measure outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), bolt circle diameter (BCD), flange thickness, and bore size.
Check the raised face (RF) or ring-type joint (RTJ) face height.
Verify the bolt hole size, quantity, and spacing.
Ensure the flange face flatness to prevent leakage.
Inspect the hub height and taper for weld neck flanges.
